![🌟 Honoring Inclusive Educators 🌟
It was a privilege to recognize two exceptional teachers in Northern Colorado for their efforts in promoting inclusivity within their schools and communities at the 2025 Styles Beyond Stereotypes fashion show.
Shelley Durkin, Art Department Leader at Timnath Middle High School: Shelley was selected for her dedication to creating an inclusive art program at TMHS. She collaborated with a local disability parent center to gather ideas on how to support disabled students in the art setting, and had Cronin tiles installed in her classroom to reduce noise from high ceilings. Through these efforts, Mrs. Durkin demonstrates how proactive accomodations improve the overall classroom experience and fosters a sense of belonging.
Lisa Weaver, Special Education Teacher at Putnam Elementary in Fort Collins: Lisa's selfless work supporting students with special needs earned her 8 nominations. Her commitment to inclusion extends beyond the classroom, as she actively provides respite to families and has launched a program at her church for individuals with disabilities.
Both educators embody the heart of our mission - empowering individuals with disabilities, providing the right supports, and fostering inclusivity. Their actions demonstrate the profound impact everyday people can have. Thank you Shelley & Lisa, we hope you had a magical evening at the show! 💛
